Medieval Leicester History & Hauntings
Leicester Castle. A large motte and the great hall are the two substantial remains of what was once a sizeable defensive structure. The hall is now encased in a Queen Anne-style frontage.
Join us for a History and Haunting Tour
We have teamed up with De Montfort University Heritage Centre to bring an exclusive and unique history tour of medieval Leicester called The Newark’s.
You will be led by the Heritage team and littered with anecdotal ghost experiences by Mich and Gill from past investigations at this venue. True Ghost Stories at their finest!
Exclusive access
This a rare opportunity for guests to experience exclusive access behind the scenes at one of our heritage sites.
The tour starts outside Leicester Castle, which is hidden behind its Georgian façade, but this was once the power seat of the King of England.
What lies beneath?
We will then make our way along the Turret Gateway, a cobbled roadway at the rear of the medieval Mary de Castro church and onto Trinity House and Trinity Hospital Chapel, founded in 1330 to care for the poor and infirm.
Trinity Hospital and Chaple was founded in 1330 by Henry Plantagenet, the 3rd Earl of Lancaster and Leicester. Today, the chapel is the building’s oldest and least altered section of the building.
