Ghost Hunt – Strutt’s Haunted School House
History
Strutt’s School is closely tied to the town’s industrial heritage. George Herbert Strutt, a descendant of Jedediah Strutt, the famous industrialist who developed the cotton industry in Belper, commissioned the school.
The school opened on 7th May 1909. Initially a higher-grade elementary school and later became a grammar school, a middle school and a primary school before moving to new premises
Strutt’s is a Grade 11 listed building, set in established grounds. There are many interesting and original features throughout, reflecting the life the building has enjoyed since it opened in 1909 and closed its doors in 2007
With many ghost stories, this is the ideal location for a paranormal investigation.
It is considered one of the region’s most haunted sites, featuring long corridors, original Edwardian features and an eerie atmosphere.
