Moira Furnace

About Moira Furnace

Built by the Earl of Moira on the banks of the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal in 1804, this coke-fuelled, steam-engine blown blast furnace is one the hidden gems of Leicestershire, dating from a formative period of the Industrial Revolution. Smelting iron from local iron ore, Moira Furnace had an attached foundry for the manufacture of cast-iron goods. Derelict for many years, the building was declared an ancient monument and restored in the 1980s.

Dare to Venture into the Enigma. Step into the footprints of those who once worked and lived here. Engage with the echoes of history and the spirits that are said to roam, as if the very bricks and stones remember the stories of lives long gone, yearning to share their tales. The spirits of Moira Furnace await your presence, promising an evening filled with thrills, mystery, and discovery. Will you dare to tread the path of the spirits, where the past and the spectral intertwine?
