Join us for an History and Haunting Tour
Medieval Leicester History & Hauntings Tour
We have teamed up with De Montfort University Heritage Centre to bring an exclusive and unique history tour of medieval Leicester called The Newark’s.
You will be led by the Heritage team and littered with anecdotal ghost experiences by Mich and Gill from past investigations at this venue.
Exclusive access
A rare opportunity for Haunted Heritage Guests to experience exclusive access behind the scenes at one of our heritage sites.
The tour starts inside Leicester Castle, hidden behind its Georgian façade, but this was once the power seat of the King of England.
Excellent Opportunity
We will take you through the Great Hall, police cells, we have access to John of Gaunt Cellars (not open to the public) and hear about the famous Green Bike Murder!
What lies beneath?
We will then make our way along the Turret Gateway, a cobbled roadway at the rear of the medieval Mary de Castro church and onto Trinity House and Trinity Hospital Chapel, founded 1330 to care for the poor and infirm.
Medieval Leicester History & Hauntings Tour
On this tour we will visit the following;
- Access to Leicester Castle
- Trinity Hospital Chapel
- Mary de Castro Church yard
- Hawthorn Building
The tour concludes next to the stone arches with a glass of wine.
Why not take a look at one of our Historical Ghost Walk Bosworth Battlefield
Hawthorn Building
Construction of the Hawthorn Building commenced in 1837, during an extension build in 1935 the large house was demolished revealing, two ruined arches from the Church of the Annunciation which was discovered embedded into the wall cellar, along with many bones, coffins, and architectural fragments.
It is here in the basement where the stone arches were repositioned after the construction of the extension and now form the centre piece of the De Montfort University Heritage Centre Exhibition.
