Ghost Hunt – Selly Manor, Birmingham

20 November @ 8:00 pm - 21 November @ 1:00 am

Selly Manor, Birmingham

A brand new venue for Haunted heritage.  Don’t miss our Ghost Investigation at the amazing Selly Manor, Birmingham.

This building is a fascinating venue, with over 500 years of history to investigate.  This venue becomes even more intriguing because it has been in two different locations….  and has had several different names.

Records for Selly Manor date back to 1476.  Willian Jenette owned the land and leased the house to tenants.

Does William Jenette still haunt this beautiful residence and what other spirits remain within its walls?

In the mid-19th Century, the manor was divided into 3 separate cottages known as The Rookery.  Over the years, these cottages would have been the home to various characters…

So … who still haunts the idyllic cottages?

In 1907, The Rookery was put up for sale by auction and it was purchased by George Cadbury, the owner of the famous Cadbury chocolate factory.
George had the building demolished brick by brick and rebuilt in Bourneville.
Does the spirit of George Cadbury reside here?

With ample ghostly sightings and paranormal activity, we know this is an exciting venue and we hope that you will join us to find out more!

What secrets do the ghosts of Selly Manor House have to share?

Come along to our ghost hunt within this beautiful location and see what answers you can provide to our questions??

You will use our equipment and venture in search of the spirits who still reside here.

We are excited .. are you?

The History of Selly Manor

Records for Selly Manor date back to 1476.  During this time, a gentleman named Willian Jenette owned the land and leased this house out to a local farmer.

In 1561,  John Setterford, his wife Phylis, and her son William Pritchett  leased the house. This family prospered and eventually were able to purchase the house.

The Setterford family owned and lived in this house until 1699 but after this, there was nobody to invest in the property and it was considered unfashionable.

Smythes Tenement declined after the Setterford Family had moved on and by the mid 19th Century, it was split into separate cottages to be leased.  It was then to be know as The Rookery.  Census records still exist and provide about the residents of these cottages… so who, from the history of this beautiful venue, will you encounter??

In 1907, The Rookery was put up for sale by auction after the death of the owner Edward Olivieri.
George Cadbury purchased The Rookery in Selly Oak.  His intention was to create a museum to compliment the other buildings he had built in the village of Bourneville, alongside the famous Cadbury chocolate factory.  George had the building demolished brick by brick and rebuilt in Bourneville.
