Near to the site of Gresley Old Hall once stood Gresley Priory.
The priory was founded in 1106-1135 and has a long history. However, following the monasteries’ dissolution in 1556, the priory became disrepair. It is reputed that the stone from the priory was to build Gresley Old Hall. Are the spirits of the monks from the original priory still walking around?
Does Sir Christopher’s spirit still linger within the walls?
