Ghost Hunt Framework Knitter Museum

Ghost Hunt Framework Knitter Museum.
Tucked away down a side street in the village of Ruddington, south Nottingham is the Framework Knitter Museum.  It is a unique and curious surviving example of a 19th century factory and living quarters, lovingly restored as a living museum.  Though don’t be fooled by its quaint exterior, pretty courtyard and tranquil location, life was hard and the ancestors are letting us know just how hard.

The layout gives you access into 3 separate buildings plus a chapel as base room. In each building we have experienced different activity.  The Cottage, The Factory and the Managers Office have generated different experiences.

It is a gem of a venue and a firm favourite with the team.

History at its finest

An example of the first factory systems in Britain, this site tells the 400-year history of a harsh life as framework knitting and its impact, which triggered the Industrial Revolution.
Life as a framework knitter was tough. The hours were long and working conditions cramped, noisy, uncomfortable, long hours, dangerous conditions and not always the kindest of Managers.
Poor health and malnutrition were rife, it was a fight for survival.
